The project to establish the Seobusan Medical Center, which will help alleviate the discrepancy of medical services between eastern and western Busan, and serve as a hub for infectious disease response, is now moving forward in full motion.
On Sep. 5, the Busan Metropolitan Government signed a build-transfer-lease (BTL) implementation agreement with Seobusan Healing Planet at the Grand Auditorium of the Saha-gu Office’s second building. Construction of the Seobusan Medical Center will begin in 2026 and is scheduled for completion in 2028.
The project will cost ₩85.826 billion. Upon completion, ownership of the facility will be transferred to the Busan Metropolitan Government, while the project operator will retain management and operational rights for 20 years.
The medical center will be built on lots 646-1 and 646-6 Sinpyeong-dong near Sinpyeong Station on Busan Metro Line 1.
This general hospital will house 300 beds, spanning a total floor area of 29,166.41 square meters and a site area of 14,381.5 square meters, with one basement level and six above-ground floors.
The facility will operate as a 24-hour regional emergency medical center, providing essential medical departments, infectious disease response, and a dental center for persons with disabilities. Equipped with advanced medical equipment such as CT and MRI scanners, the facility aims to establish itself as a key public healthcare institution serving western Busan.
